Mombasa City Excursions

Surprise 1: Mombasa City Journey

Mombasa, a town of ancient and modern buildings is claimed to be the oldest town in East Africa.

The tour includes a visit to Fort Jesus Museum (Built by the Portuguese in 1563, guarding the entrance to the old habor). The old Arab Town, Hindu Temple, Haller Park and Mamba Village.

Surprise 2:  Shimba Hills ( Half Day )

A short drive south of Mombasa passing through lush countryside to see Elephant, Buffalo, Giraffes, Roan and Sable Antelopes, waterbucks, Baboons and a wide variety of birdlife.

Shimba Hills game Reserve is a sanctuary to the Sable Antelopes.

Surprise 3:  Shimoni & Kisite Mpunguti (Full day)

The journey begins by road to Shimoni approximately 140 kms south of the urban centre of Mombasa. At Shimoni you board a Dhow and sail through an enchanting seascape of islets and reefs to the Kisite Marine National Park.

Enjoy your time at leisure and marvel at the oceans beauty, with a locally-caught seafood for lunch. Return to the jetty where the bus awaits your arrival to take you back to your hotel.

Surprise 4:  Tamarind Dhow (Evening)

Transfer from your hotel to the Tamarind Jetty where the Dhow awaits your arrival. The dhow passes the old harbor and Tudor Creek.

Dinner is prepared by the chef’s as you enjoy the sunset and listen to the music of a live band. Spend the evening at luxury leisure by dancing and admiring the beauty of the night.

Return back to the jetty for transfer back to your Hotel.

Surprise 5:  Evening Dhow

Light and sound with dinner at Fort Jesus. A romantic dhow sundown cruise along the shores of the picturesque island of Mombasa. As darkness sets the dhow docks at the jetty and proceed to Fort Jesus (Constructed by the Portuguese in the 16th Century).

The venue for a sound and light presentation of the turbulent history of the East African Coast.

A “Candelabra” – lit setting” creates the atmosphere for a unique dinner served within the fortress by waiters in Portuguese attire. After the dinner get transferred back to you hotel.

Day 6: Dolphin Dhow (Full Day)

Transfer from your hotel to Shimoni where you will be escorted by dolphins’ experts that make this more than a dhow trip. It is their coral garden where we will snorkel and marvel at the prolific marine life.

A traditional lunch ensures maximum time for dolphin spotting. Island exploring provides good vantage points overlooking the dolphin playgrounds.

Dolphin sightings cannot be absolutely guaranteed, however a most enjoyable and memorable day can. (Note: Carry your swimwear, a hat, rubber or canvas shoes, mask and snorkel and money for souvenirs).

Day 7:  Tsavo East & West National Park

Depart at 0600 hrs for Tsavo East National Park; arrive at the “Bachuma Gate”. Tsavo National Park (East & West) is Kenya’s largest National Park.

Fame for its huge herds of elephants, lions, Rhino, Giraffe and zebra.

Lunch is provided at Voi Safari Lodge which has a waterhole in front of the Lodge. (Viewing wildlife directly from the lodge).
